Little is known of Manteekan from the times before the Elder Wars, His past as hazy as His current form. Having spent time with Jadice upon the Plains of Ice, the details of which remain locked in the minds of the pair, Manteekan developed an icy touch, much like the Goddess, yet His manifested not in ice and snow, but in the chill of death. One of the Twelve who would come to consume Fain's Elixir, Manteekan shared this with the fae He would come to Awaken, twisting them into powerful weapons that would bring about one of the first victories against the Soulless.

Exiled with the other Twelve, though His judgement passed by only two of the three Triumvirate, Manteekan wandered the far reaches of the Void until He stumbled across a fragrant trail left by Maylea, the Bloom of Serenity. Following the Goddess back to the First World, He was able to escape when a rift into the Void was opened to free Her from Her battle with the half-formed Hiureth. Slinking off to the Icewynd, a familiar territory for the Elder, Manteekan regained His strength and took to calling upon His fae to reclaim the weapons that were once His. Many of the fae answered willingly, yet those bound to Night, the redcaps, slaughs, and barghests, resisted. Manteekan, angered by the rebellion of His creations, attempted to claim the home they clung to so dearly, leading to His own capture by Viravain and Nocht deep within the ethereal reflection of Glomdoring.

Undergoing a transformation that none but the Wyrd will ever truly understand, Manteekan's body was twisted and crippled by the Forest's feasting, yet His mind grew stronger. Unable to separate His body from the prison that held it, Manteekan was released, bound to the Wyrd by what was left of His physical form, yet His mind was left to wander, and He coalesced as a hazy figure, formed of the mist He was once so fond of.
