The Stealth skill is the clandestine practice of all things secretive. Its practitioners conceal themselves within the deepest shadows, biding their time until an opportunity to strike. They are masters of deception and subterfuge, and excel at concealment.

Sneak

Syntax
SNEAK, EMERGE

Your training allows you to hide within the shadows and sneak around without others noticing. Emerging from the shadows will cause you to cease sneaking about.


Evade

Syntax
EVADE <direction>

You can slip through defenses that prevent you from leaving a location through clever evasion techniques.


Sign

Syntax
<emote> SIGN <message>

Each guild which teaches stealth develops a special sign language which is so subtle that it could involve facial twitches or small muscular movements. Generally, such sign language is hidden within simple smiles or frowns.

NOTE: You must sign using standard emotes, such as SMILE, NOD, etc. They cannot be used to target anyone. Example: SMILE SIGN Boy, what a jerk!


Eavesdrop

Syntax
EAVESDROP <direction>

You can listen in on conversations in adjacent locations.


Bracing

Syntax
STEALTH BRACING
Damage Modifier: 1/8 cutting and blunt resistance

Attacks can come at any time, so those trained in stealth learn to brace themselves against the possibility of bodily harm.


Rooftops

Syntax
SCALE ROOFTOPS / CLIMB DOWN

NOOSE <target>
SHOVE <target>

You can scale up to rooftops if they are accessible. From the rooftops, you can use a piece of rope to noose someone on the ground, and bring them up to the rooftops with you. Also, if another person is on the rooftops with you, you can shove them off and break their legs.


Mislead

Power: 5 (general)

The art of misdirection is one of the hallmarks of stealth, and you can prepare yourself to hide the direction of your next three attempts to tumble, roll, somersault, etc.


Blowgun

Syntax
BLOWGUN CREATE BLOWGUN

BLOWGUN CREATE DARTS
BLOWGUN SHOOT <poison> <target> [<target 2> ...]

Outlay: wood 1 (for blowgun)

iron 10 (for darts)

Shooting darts at an enemy does no damage but will afflict with poison. You must have a vial of poison in your inventory as well as darts and a blowgun. You can carve a blowgun out of a wood commodity, and can create a full brace of darts out of 10 iron commodities. You can shoot up to three people in this manner.


Stalk

Syntax
STALK <target>

If you are sneaking about, you can begin following someone in an adjacent location. You can only stalk someone on ground level and cannot stalk over water.


Awareness

Syntax
STEALTH AWARENESS [ON/OFF]

By becoming hyperaware of your surroundings, you will know when an enemy enters or leaves your general area, at the cost of a constant drain on your mana.


Agility

Syntax
STEALTH AGILITY

A user of Stealth not only moves silently, but also quickly. You are now able to increase your reflexes and agility.

This defence lasts 30s and while using agility, you will ignore gravity and rubble effects, and only use half the balance to evade, transverse and enter special exits.

After it fades, you will be unable to use Agility for two minutes.


Whisper

STEALTH WHISPER

By entering into whisper mode, you will not be easily eavesdropped or infiltrated by other stealth users.


Infiltrate

Syntax
INFILTRATE <target>

In order to successfully infiltrate, your target must be in the same room as you though can be on any elevation. While infiltrating, you will hear the city and guild channels of that person.

Additional Notes:
This ability is the primary reason that most organizations form separate clans to coordinate tactics. Ask your city leaders about joining yours today!


Masquerade

Syntax
MASQUERADE WEAR <mask>

MASQUERADE RELAX
MASQUERADE MAKEMASK <target>

In order to accomplish a successful masquerade, you must first make a gold mask from a corpse. You will need 5 gold tints and, of course, the undisturbed corpse or head of your target. Once you have created the delicate mask (which destroys the corpse or the head), you can use it to train the muscles of your face to take on the appearance of the mask's subject. The delicate mask will quickly decay the more you use it.

Performing any hostile action while under a masquerade will reveal who you are. No one will be able to target you using your masquerade name nor will your masquerade name be seen when you send tells to others.

NOTE: The algontherine entities known as aethercraft refuse to recognize those who are under a masquerade, and thus you cannot use PORTALs or MODULEs while masked.


Snoop

Syntax
SNOOP <target> [<item>]

You can snoop around another person's inventory to see what they have. You may also examine a specific item within another's inventory.


Caltrops

Syntax
IRONCRAFT CALTROPS

THROW CALTROPS AT GROUND

With the requisite ability in Arts, you can now craft caltrops from a bar of iron. When thrown on the ground, they will impede the progress of people through the room. Anyone trying to sprint (or similar) through the room will find they cannot continue beyond the sharp tacks.


Truss

Syntax
TRUSS <target>
Commodity: rope 1

With a piece of rope, you can truss up a prone opponent with tight bindings.


Waylay

Syntax
STEALTH WAYLAY <target>

You must first set up to waylay a target, who cannot be in the same room as you but must be on the same continent. If the target enters the room, you will immediately spring out and waylay him or her, throwing the target to the ground. Once waylaid, there is a chance that you can block the target's movement out of the room (chance increases with your skill in stealth).

Changelog:

  • Stealth Waylay's same continent/plane restriction has been removed. (#1441 on 2018-Jun-22)
  • Stealth - Waylay will no longer confer information as to the online status of a player. (#1493 on 2018-Jul-27)


Rush

Syntax
STEALTH RUSH <target> <direction>
Power: 2 (Any)

Commodity: rope 1

Rush at an enemy in an adjacent room and quickly truss them up.


Drag

Syntax
DRAG <target> <direction>

If your target is trussed up, you can drag him or her to adjacent locations.


Ghostwalk

Syntax
GHOSTWALK <target>
Power: 3 (any)

By sensing out and focusing on a target who is no more than 10 rooms away from you, you can begin a ghostly walk to their location. After a 1-second channel, your journey will begin and you will instinctively know where your target is, as long as they stay within the 10-room radius. You will automatically move towards them, and if you manage to track them down before they evade you, you will waylay them and throw down caltrops, should you have some to hand. Ghostwalking will avoid things like walls, pits and rubble.

Changelog:

  • The countdown was increased back up to 3 seconds. (#2109 on 6-13-2020)
  • Ghostwalking now only takes 1 second and will avoid movement-hindering effects on the way to your target. (#1438 on 6-20-2018)


Aim

Syntax
BLOWGUN AIM <poison> <target> [<target> ...]

You can now aim your blowgun at a target, which will allow you to hit that target if in adjacent rooms or at different elevations in the room you are in. Note that aiming takes a little more balance than simply shooting. You can target up to three people in this manner.


Screen

Syntax
STEALTH SCREEN

You can cleverly hide the items you carry, so they cannot be seen by those trying to peek into your inventory.


Obscure

Syntax
BLOWGUN AIM OBSCURE <poison> <target> [<target> ...]

By obscuring your aimed shots, it will not be apparent from what direction or elevation the darts are coming from. This adds a small amount of balance recovery to the aimed shot. You can target up to three people in this manner.


DeepCover

Syntax
STEALTH DEEPCOVER
Power: 10 (any)

While under a masquerade, you will be able to briefly assume that identity to such an extent that you will fool organizations. While under deep cover, organizations will truly think you are indeed that person when checking their enemy lists. However, this does NOT fool individuals who have you on their personal enemy list. This is very taxing and you will not be able to maintain deepcover for long so use that time wisely.


ShadowCloak

Syntax
STEALTH SHADOWCLOAK
Power: 5 (any)

Utilising all of your acquired skills in Stealth, you can engage the following defenses instantly: Sneaking, Bracing, Whisper and Screen.


Veil

Syntax
STEALTH VEIL
Power: 5 (any)

By veiling your aura, no one will be able to detect your whereabouts by almost any means. Do not underestimate this ability, it is extremely powerful! It will last 5 minutes before dissipating, after which you will need a couple minutes of rest before casting it again.
