the Village of Duum
Continent Basin of Life
Plane Prime Material Plane

Hidden deep within the the Balach Swamps, Duum was rumoured to have been once a mugwump village, abandoned for unclear reasons. The village was re-discovered by the cities and communes of the Basin of Life about two centuries after the coming of Estarra; it was found then to have already been re-settled by a group of isolative and xenophobic humans, who claim to be descended from the third human tribe brought to Lusternia by Estarra, the Eternal. Compared to other human settlements, Duum is far more run-down and poorly kept, its inhabitants blithely nonchalant as the dwellings slowly sink into the nearby swampland. And yet, Duum's inhabitants are proud of their heritage and show no desire to depart. At times, dark clouds and lightning hover over the swampy village, hinting that there may be more to the sleepy, forgotten settlement than meets the eye.

Two researchers from the Lusternia Humanist League have set up a research station to learn more about these villagers who trace their lineage back to some of the earliest humans in the Basin.
