For those trained for it, inscribing ancient runes upon specially prepared casting stones, imbues them with great power. If you have the skill, you must find an artist to supply you with blank rune stones and tinctures, and INSCRIBE <stone> with <rune>. If you are wielding a sling, you simply SLING <rune> AT <target>, which will place that person under the aegis of the particular rune. Masters of the Runes are also able to read the runes when cast and foretell prophecies of the future, subtly influencing the threads of fate.

Runes can also be placed onto statues by master enchanters or on great totems by highly skilled druids.

Sling

Syntax:
SLING <rune> AT <target>

If you are wielding a sling, you can sling a rune at an opponent.

Additional Notes:
Slings are made by forgers.

Inscribing

Syntax:
INSCRIBE [number] RUNE WITH <rune>

With this ability, you may inscribe blank rune stones with the various runes you know.

Runebags

Syntax:
INRB <number> <rune>

OUTRB <number> <rune>
RBL

Runebags is the ability to utilise the magical bags especially made for runes. When you have a runebag, you can see what it contains by probing it. INRB (for INRUNEBAG) <rune> will put a rune in the pack and OUTRB <rune> will take it out again. You may INRB and OUTRB up to 50 runes at once by doing INRB 50 NYD, or OUTRB 50 NYD for instance. RBL lists all your runes.

Additional Notes:
Tailors make plain bags, which enchanters turn into runebags.

The Masters of the Runes are prophets and seers, able not only to foretell what the future may bring by reading the runes, but also to subtly intercede on behalf of their own interests in the Great Tapestry of Fate. Though only capable of the gentlest of plucks upon the weft of destiny, even the tiniest of reverberations may eventually evoke great change.

A benign prophesy is the simplest of prophesies, foretelling good fortune upon you and your allies, who will be able to withstand more as their maximum health increases.

Additional Notes:
Lasts five minutes and increases maximum health by 10% for you and your allies.

FORETELLINGS

Runes: Rad, eohl, and beorc

By casting the runes and speaking aloud the name of the one you seek, you will foretell that destiny shall bring you together. When this prophesy comes to pass, you will be aware of that person's presence in your local vicinity.

You may foretell this prophesy several times, dependent upon your mastery of Runes.

MalignProphesy

Syntax:
FORETELL MALIGN PROPHESY ABOUT <person>
Power: 3 (Any)

Runes: Haegl, ger, and tiwaz

A malign prophesy heralds sickness and disease for the one who the Seer names, an unpleasant and gruesome fate for those who would cross an experienced runist.

Additional Notes:
Afflicts with Scabies, Pox, Sensitivity, and Addiction.

Fuse

Syntax:
FUSE <rune>

DEFUSE <rune>

TThis may only be done within your demesne. Up to six runes may be fused into a location. A random fused rune will strike all of your enemies on a regular basis, even if they are flying or hiding in the trees. The runes will not be destroyed, even when they fire, except when the room leaves your demesne or the demesne holder dies. You can also remove the rune from the rune and return it to your inventory by defusing.

Additional Notes:
Fused runes tick every ten seconds, and you'll be able to see them hit even if you're not in the room, though you won't see anything if they don't hit.

Staffsling

Syntax:
ATTACH SLING TO STAFF

If you have a staff, you can attach a sling onto it. A staff sling adds to your range so that you can target others in adjacent rooms as well as in the same room.

Additional Notes:
Also works with cudgels.

Manna

RunicAmulet

Syntax:
FASHION RUNIC AMULET OF <rune>
Power: 5 (Any)

By fashioning a runic amulet from five runes of any single type, you have a chance to protect yourself against the affliction given by that rune. You may fashion only one amulet at any time - fashioning another will destroy the first.

Additional Notes:
Lasts 10 months or until it blocks 50 attacks, whichever comes first. Has a 50% chance to block an affliction. Doesn't work against Rad.

Ansuz

Othala

Power: 1 (Any)

Tinctures: gold 1

Othala is the only rune that requires power to sling. Its effects are random and hidden.

Additional Notes:
Causes a random affliction.

DeathProphesy

Syntax:
FORETELL DEATH PROPHESY ABOUT <person>
Power: 3 (Any)

Runes: Rad, haegl, sigil, feoh, manna and lagu

The direst of prophesies is to see the death of another. Once the prophesy has been spoken, images of the runes of power will appear to your enlightened mind - the omens of the death to come. The last of these omens is always the othala rune, which heralds that death has come. If these runes strike the target as you have foreseen, the destiny you seek shall come to pass.

However, if the runes prove false and fail to find their victim, or the victim no longer has the ailments of the runes when the othala rune strikes, so too shall your prophesy ring hollow.

Supersling

Syntax:
SUPERSLING <rune> AND <rune> AT <target>
Power: 1 (Any)
