Gorgog

The gorgogs are the tainted remnants of the Project Gorgog experiments which paved the way for Project Cosmic Hope. They were created by all four mage guilds by harnessing fire, air, earth, and water elementals. They have the intellect of a small child and were incredibly strong and resilient. This allowed them to be sent as probes into the aether and is how it was determined whether it was feasible or not for the Empire to send a party to the Supra planes.

After Project Cosmic Hope, the gorgogs went mad as their Earth portion became tainted. Those on the island of Nyalia were either destroyed or sealed within a dimensional pocket but the ones on Itecia killed all of the mage-scientists there and established a colony of sorts lead by Gognigin, an unnaturally intelligent gorgog.

He guided the gorgogs into constructing a machine similar to the one the mage-scientists used to seal the other gorgogs. Using this machine, the gorgogs are able to open up the dimensional pocket and free their brethren so they might exact revenge from the cities that created them and used them as fodder for their experiments.
