Revision as of 04:58, 23 March 2023

In the month of Klangiary, 232 years after the coming of Estarra, the Dwarves of Rockholm and Southgard celebrated the ancient dwarven festival of Klangfest in an unusual display of racial solidarity. All the peoples of the Basin were invited to commemorate the arrival of the legendary Beloch Baruwski, and it was there that the Dwarves imparted the ancient secrets of clangoru brewing to the winner of the Klangfest bawdy song tournament. Though Lendren Starfall won the contest with his bawdy song, "Fourplay", he gave up his prize to the runner-up, Sylphas of the Spiritsingers for his song, "Wild Witches".

The skilled Brewmeister is known not just for his teas and beers, but for his astonishing constitution. Due to the skill's inherent nature, it is suited only for bards who practise Lowmagic.

Brewing

Syntax
BREW <brew recipe #> [INTO <container>]

DISTILL <spirit recipe #> [INTO <container>]
MULL <wine recipe #> [INTO <container>]
RECIPES <BREWS|SPIRITS|WINE>

The first step in the art of the Brewmeister is to create basic brews, spirits and wine. This includes tea! These skills are shared with cooks; however, you must be at an alembic to create these liquids (rather than a kitchen) and do not have access to any cartel recipes (being that you cannot be in a cartel).

NOTE: To actually brew beverages, you need a bottle and ingredients in your inventory (not in the alembic).

Additional Notes:
Before you can brew teas or malts you must create dried teas or malts. For instance, you'll convert rawtea into tea by this process. To do this, place the ingredients into the alembic (ADD <number> <ingredient>), then amalgamate it (AMALGAMATE <result>), then get the resulting item from the alembic. This creates the prepared or dried ingredient, such as dried tea or pale malt, which will in turn be used in brewing. For example, to make white tea leaves from rawtea:
  • ADD 10 RAWTEA
  • AMALGAMATE WHITETEA
  • GET TEA FROM ALEMBIC

To convert grain and sugar into pale malt:

  • ADD 30 GRAIN
  • ADD 30 SUGAR
  • AMALGAMATE PALEMALT
  • GET 10 PALEMALT FROM ALEMBIC

These are the steps where you will use power (from your reserves or a powerstone). After creating the charged ingredient, and while still at the alembic, you can now produce the final beverage. With an empty bottle and the charged tea or malt in hand, use a BREW <design> [INTO <container>] command to create the brew.

Note that Brewmeisters can brew the recipes created by Cooks, but cannot create new ones. Contrariwise, Cooks can design new brews, but cannot create the charged ingredients themselves.

PaleMalt

Syntax
DRINK PALEMALT
Amalgamation Cost: Half a percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: grain 3 sugar 3

Although beer from this malt is sometimes jokingly called Olde Orcish, it is most likely of dwarvish origin. However, dwarven brewmeisters coyly refuse to accept responsibility and only brew this beer during depressed times. This malt is made from sugar and cheap grains. Although the beer is of a pale colour, the alcohol potency is extremely high.

Absinthe

Syntax
DRINK ABSINTHE
Amalgamation Cost: 4 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: wormwood 5 faeleaf 3 mistletoe 3 reishi 2 dreamleech 1

Normally, this is simply a highly intoxicating substance which can sometimes lead to hallucinations. However, in the hands of a person skilled in dreamweaving, the ego will inflate both the health and mana of the dreamwalker in dreambody form.

AmberMalt

Syntax
DRINK AMBERMALT
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: grain 8 sugar 3

Used in a few amber and nut brown ales, this dwarven malt has a biscuit like flavor (thus, sometimes referred as Dwarven Biscuit). Highly prized by dwarves, it is roasted in high temperature alembics. Drinking beers made with amber malt briefly deadens pain, thus allowing more damage to be absorbed. Deadening pain is a short term effect and its strength is dependent upon your alcohol level (the drunker you are, the more damage is absorbed).

MagicInk

Amalgamation Cost: 5 percent of power reserves.

Ingredients: goldtint 10 sparkleberry 10

Magical ink is often needed by highly skilled bookbinders in order to scribe magical writings onto scrolls.

Belch

Syntax
BREWMEISTER BELCH

No one can belch like a brewmeister! The strength and power of your belch is so strong that your enemies will experience a slight blackout. The length of time they blackout is dependent upon your alcohol level.

WhiteTea

Syntax
DRINK WHITETEA
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: rawtea 10

Prepared by withering and drying tea leaves, white tea has a delicate aroma and brews to a pale golden cup with a mellow taste and a hint of sweetness. This tea is particularly fluffy and light. Also known as the Tea of Insight, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of stupidity, deadening and dementia. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.

BeerBelly

Because so many of your brews has strengthened your belly, you are now slightly resistant to gut wounds. This is a passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.

OolongTea

Syntax
DRINK OOLONGTEA
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: rawtea 10

Oolong has an extremely complex process to prepare, which includes withering, bruising, fermenting, pan frying and drying the tea leaves. This highly prized tea often naturally imitates the flavors and fragrances of various flowers and fruits. Also known as the Tea of Passion, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of recklessness, peace and pacified. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.

PukeMaster

Syntax
BREWMEISTER PUKE

Sometimes you can just have imbibed too much alcohol! You can reduce your alcohol level by puking it out of your system. Be careful, though, as this will leave behind a slippery puddle of nastiness. You can only puke 3x per day.

DarkMalt

Syntax
DRINK DARKMALT
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: grain 15

Usually made from high quality barley, this malt is considered the epitome of fine malts by many dwarvish connoisseurs. The rich colour ranges from dark brown (Chocolate Malt) to black (Dwarven Special D), and is used in many dark ales and lagers as well as the popular and seasonal Klangfest brews. Those under the influence of dark brews will find they increase the damage they inflict. This increase in damage is a short term effect and its strength is dependent on your alcohol level (the drunker you are, the more damage you inflict).

GreenTea

Syntax
DRINK GREENTEA
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: rawtea 10

Like oolong, green tea has a complicated process which includes withering, pan frying and steaming, as well as drying and rolling. The result is a tea that has a beautiful pale emerald colour and a deep flavour and aroma with tones of citrus, grass, and berries. Also known as the Tea of Motion, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of paralysis, weakness and rigormortis. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.

Chilling

Syntax
CHILL <container>

SIP ICEDTEA

Outlay: 1 snowball

Using a frosty snowball to leech the warmth from your tea, you can convert a container filled with a warm or hot fluid tea to one filled with an iced variant. Iced tea has such a refreshing nature that it will grant resistance to heat-induced movement penalties.

StandingDrunk

After suffering your share of blackouts while sampling your brews, you have developed a slight immunity to blacking out. Interestingly enough, the higher your alcohol level, the more of a chance you have of resisting blackouts. This is a passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.

BlackTea

Syntax
DRINK BLACKTEA
Amalgamation Cost: 2 percent of power reserve.

Ingredients: rawtea 10

Black tea is withered and specially rolled before fermenting and drying. It has a pleasant and sweet aroma, brews very dark with a full, rich flavour. Also known as the Tea of Vivacity, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of epilepsy, vapors and clumsiness. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.

SteelGut

Your tolerance to alcohol has increased to almost dwarvish proportions. This is a passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.

TeaCeremony

Syntax
TEACEREMONY <BLACK|OOLONG|GREEN|WHITE>

This ritualistic ceremony must have at least 10 people in attendance, and the brewmeister must have more than enough tea to serve to everyone. After the ceremony, all in attendance will have an inner quality enhanced, depending on what type of tea was served during the ceremony. Only one type of enhancement can be active at once. The enhancement will afford a 14% chance of avoiding certain ailments:

Additional Notes:
An artisan's banquet table and chairs will reduce the number of people and amount of tea required.
