The Vortex is a Cosmic Plane of shifting flesh from which no God was born. Instead, twelve massive fleshpots - living pots of flesh, similar in shape and appearance to a flower with petals and a trunk - have been born from this primordial creche, lending their flesh to the ministrations of the Illuminati. The majority of the inhabitants of the Vortex, from tiny spix to hundred-armed hekoskeri, are the creations of those secretive guardians.

- The Crimson Eyes and Roark captured the Twelve Traitors and Nemach on Vortex.
- The Project Cosmic Hope expedition escaped to Vortex from the Astral Plane through a reflection of the Eternal Flame.
