Overhauling the Wiki & Welcome

Hey guys! Lets get our discussion going here and organise who's doing what. Firstly, Enyalida is rocking templates and migrating all skills to the new one. Skills are a priority to get updated and you needn't bother gathering them from players or Xiel's site. I can get that stuff so much quicker and easier for you so that's what I'm doing now and will put it in pastebin and link here. Once she gives the go-ahead for updating the skills, can proceed with that.
Secondly, lets not get a case of too many cooks as we have a few new people joining. Everyone's excited to get going but if you are a new Chronicler please focus on guide-related pages that need updates rather than things that are getting a template overhaul (skills, orgs, guilds). For example, take a look at newbie guide, influencing (lots changed), aetherspace, beasts, etc.
Thirdly, anything new that isn't on the wiki already (for example curios) has to be vetted by me as appropriate for the official wiki as there's some things we can't list. Lets first focus on revising what we already have. --Drocilla (talk) 20:21, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Skills Discussion

Note: Skill lists to paste once all pages are done can be found at the bottom.

Please note that warriors, monks, and trade-skills are all getting a feat tweaks in the coming weeks (not sure on timeline for monks yet) so lets add those at the very end. --Drocilla (talk) 04:45, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Will you guys be okay getting general skills on your own? Most of you are all Trans. If so I'll focus on gathering trade and class specific ones. --Drocilla (talk) 21:54, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Are you going to be writing the AB pages directly yourself? If you send me a log of all the ABs, I can pretty quickly update the different portions, if you want. --Enyalida (talk) 22:02, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
The best I can do during January is supply things for others so I'll leave that for you to input as I'm confined to a tablet. I will get abs and put them on pastebin. --Drocilla (talk) 22:04, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Okay, that's fine! I was assuming that is what would happen. You and the other admins are perfectly capable of updating the wiki pages, of course, but you also have other things to do related to Lusternia (nevermind lives). Though it seems inefficient, I think that the best method will be to change almost everything over to the template, and then go back over and check for skill changes. The warrior skills have enough changes in them that it'll be better to create the new pages from whole cloth, so that's what I'll do there. --Enyalida (talk) 22:15, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Agreed, I'm perfectly happy sitting back and letting you guys work your magic rather than take even more work on myself. You know what you're doing and are doing it well. I'll gather the ABs and when you give the A-ok re: skill pages being updated to your new template, can have people have a go at updating things. --Drocilla (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Newbie Guide

Hope this is the right way to reply! I can take up looking at the Newbie Guide? Most of it seems right at the top two sections. But starts deviating with respect to the supplies you actually receive. So, really, all I see is section 2 that needs updated? --Zarialle (talk) 20:46, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Sure! It would also be helpful to start updating the linked pages, like Influencing, Hunting Guide and possibly Questing. Once I've updated the skills pages, I'll work on a style guide. For now, I think the most salient guideline is that if anything is going to have repetitive, complex formatting it should get a template, so that future reformatting is easy. --Enyalida (talk) 20:57, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
That newbie guide was last updated in 2011 so I'd say go for it. See what has changed, mention Collegiums if they're not there too.--Drocilla (talk) 20:56, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah it already discusses the use of CGT and CGHELP? Though should that be more thorough? I wouldn't want to add too much that it's no longer just a "guide". --Zarialle (talk) 21:00, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

I wouldn't mind if there was more to it. The wiki might be the only coherent source of info for some newbies should there be no one in their guild at the time to help out. Guides mention the link every so often. Explaining more the purpose of the College and suggestions on what to do to get started would be nice. Refer them to a new hunting place after Newton, talk about having to graduate to be able to learn past Master skill rank and that all guilds will have a mini exam they could do, how to get into design perhaps (perhaps a page later on about designing, cartels, the process, etc), and so on. --Drocilla (talk) 21:06, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Looks like 2.14 LUSTERNIA: NEWBIE GUIDE is also out of date. Everyone gets a claymore now from what I've seen. And need to add in about getting herbs. I started off with two of every curative. --Zarialle (talk) 21:15, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Added a section called Collegiums to the Newbie Guide - how's that look? And yes, I'm one of the new ones! I'll be asking lots of questions! :D I also have never contributed heavily to a Wiki before sooo... if I goof, sorry! I can probably fix it though! I will probably break out that last section so there's one for "Newbie Hunting", one for "Influencing" and one for "Questing". I might also enhance Roleplaying to add more ideas/information on what all is possible to do. Like combat, versus being a hunter, versus influencing and debating, battling with ikons, chess, design, orders... something to give them more ideas on where they can go as far as opportunities and potential. (Need input! :D) --Zarialle (talk) 21:34, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

On the left hand navigation, I noticed, the Newbie Guide is under Skills under Lusternia Basics. Can we move the Newbie Guide to being first? Seems to make more sense to me, but not sure why it was done that way or if it's possible? --Zarialle (talk) 19:50, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Planescape

Heyo, not sure where it is on the priorities but I was looking at the Planescape. Just thinking if no one else is working on that, I could start going through and adding in pages with the helpfile descriptions of the area along with a listing of notable npcs in the area and maybe the hunting/influencing guide information for the area. I'd also be looking to put together a little sidebar/infobox template for things like plane, continent, honours quests. Saran (talk) 04:03, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

The other thing we will need is an output of when each skill is learned. You'll probably have to ask Ieptix for that, but in the past I haven't had much trouble getting that data out of anomalies! --Enyalida (talk) 01:53, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I got it already, least for things that give an easy output. Some others I need them to dig for when they have the time. --Drocilla (talk) 02:32, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Style Guide

After I do some skill updating, I'm going to start working on a central wiki styleguide. I expect to make several sections, one for each type of wiki entry. For the most part, I'm going to stick to data entry style stuff for now (e.g, Always list buffs from largest to smallest value, then alphabetically). So, be on the look out. --Enyalida (talk) 00:21, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Do you guys think it's worth having a separate 'Wiki Rules', or are there not enough Chronicler's for it to matter? The only real rule I can think of off the top of my head is "No Adventurer Pages".
Maybe not even a hard and fast, or strict "Rules" page, but a "guidelines" or "recommendations" listing of some kind on what to edit/add or not? Maybe that's too open-ended... But I'm rather making it up as I go right now :D --Zarialle (talk) 00:26, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Adventurers

Drocilla, could you please remove the Adventurer's link from the Navigation Bar? I think it's a bad idea to encourage Chroniclers to make pages about players in Lusternia, regardless of those player's relative notoriety. If there is enough support for the idea, I guess it could be done, but we'd need to keep a really close watch on it, and again: I think it's a bad idea. It would be helpful if the Chroniclers (or some subset of us) had the priv to change the navigation bar, but that's something that has to be changed upstream. --Enyalida (talk) 06:31, 20 January 2016 (UTC)
