The Cosmic Plane of Nil was once called Shallamar, but was the first plane to be corrupted by the Taint. The great benevolent beings who ruled there - the Holy Emanations - were twisted and are now known as the Demon Lords of Nil. Frequently fighting among themselves, they rule over hordes of grotesque demonic creatures. The Demon Lord who has managed to keep the upper hand is Supreme Master Luciphage, whose exceedingly charming facade covers an utterly cold and calculating heart. His rule over the other Demon Lords of Nil is predicated not on his vast, dark powers, but rather his patient ruthlessness. The guardians of Nil are the Nihilists, who often emulate this style.

This small island floats alone above the rest of the plane, the other islands visible some distance below. This outcropping of rock is barely ten feet across at its widest. It is only possible to stand in a small area, the rest of the stone being covered with the bleached white skulls of various races. Where the rock is visible it has been stained a shiny midnight black, which reflects the blood red clouds that surround on all sides. A large gold throne is mounted to face the clear area, an intricate construction of spikes and swirls that twists and turns as it is watched. Arcane symbols and blasphemous images are carved into the seat's surface.

Notable Denizens

  • Supreme Master Luciphage - Chief among the Demon Lords of Nil is Supreme Master Luciphage, also known as the Dominator of the Midnight Legions. He is extraordinarily handsome with chiseled features and a mane of black hair that falls over his shoulders in thick, lustrous strands. His skin is a deep carnelian red and his eyes are black orbs with pupils of red fire. A barbed tail occasionally twitches from under his rich black robes that spread across the floor in puddles of silk. The borders of these robes are inscribed with golden sigils that squirm and twist on the fabric. He wields an ebony staff that has affixed to the top a golden skull with eye sockets set with two huge, black diamonds. Radiating from the Supreme Master of Nil is a dark aura so evil and foreboding that even the most sanctified of beings would be hard-pressed not to feel damned in Luciphage's crepuscular presence. Supreme Master Luciphage almost glows with nearly god-like power. He weighs about 416 pounds. He has invulnerability to excorable damage. He has a moderate weakness to divinus damage. He is loyal to the Grand Province of Magnagora.
  • Gorgulu, the Devourer of Souls - Though Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls is counted as among the Demon Lords of Nil, there is nothing about this monstrosity that hints at having an intellect, at least not one that is commonly understood as sentient. Also known as the Mouth of a Thousand Hungers, Gorgulu is a seething, amorphous mass that surges with corruption, filth and tainted putrescence. There always seems to be mouths of various sizes and species that form and salivate upon the inchoate blob that is Gorgulu. The mouths are fed by appendages that grow from the slime and pus, often appearing as tentacles or giant tongues, but sometimes as fully formed humanoids connected to Gorgulu by a cord, like half-aborted miscarriages. Gorgulu the Devourer of Souls almost glows with nearly god-like power. He weighs about 4093 pounds. He is loyal to the Grand Province of Magnagora.
  • The Voice of Baalphegar - Though not visible, the demonic presence of a Demon Lord of Nil permeates the air. It can only be Baalphegar, also known as the Prince of the Dark Fates, who often goes by the title, Keeper of the Web of Despair. While his form may be invisible, the air vibrates with a slithering attendance that is acutely felt in the inner recesses of the mind, causing the hairs on the back of the neck to prickle and skin to itch. The Voice of Baalphegar exudes an aura of overwhelming power. He is strangely weightless. He has invulnerability to excorable damage. He has a moderate weakness to divinus damage. He is loyal to the Grand Province of Magnagora.
