Sacraments

Revision as of 23:02, 3 February 2010 by Lendren (talk | contribs) (New skills and changes to old skills)
Sacraments is a specialization of Rituals, and can only be learned in New Celest, as it is connected to the nexus known as the Pool of Stars. Drawing power from Celestia, the Plane of Light, Sacraments channels the power of the Light into divine rituals to help and heal. However, there is a harder side to Sacraments that involve branding those who seek to subvert the Light.

Emissary

As an emissary of light, your parleys will cost less gold. Also, if you have the amnesty skill, that skill will be more effective.

Benediction

Syntax:
STARCHANT BENEDICTION <target>
Power: 3 (Pool of Stars)

A ritual of benediction will pour many blessings upon your soul.

Additional Notes:
Conveys defenses.

Lastrites

Syntax:
STARCHANT LASTRITES <corpse>

Entomb the body of the fallen so that they may not be easily resurrected.

Fervor

Syntax:
STARCHANT FERVOR
Power: 3 (Pool of Stars)

By praying to the Light to guide your hand, you may be assured that your words and deeds are the will of Holy Celestia itself. While possessed of this fiery religious fervor, damage and wounding against the enemies of the Light will be increased if they stand in holy ground or have been marked as heretics, infidels, or are suffering a holy inquisition.

Lustration

Syntax:
STARCHANT LUSTRATION
Power: 2 (Pool of Stars)

The ritual of lustration will open your mind to hold more than it normally would.

Additional Notes:
Increases mana to above maximum.

Ablution

Syntax:
STARCHANT ABLUTION
Power: 2 (Pool of Stars)

With the ritual of ablution upon your body, you will be extremely healthy.

Additional Notes:
Increases health to above maximum.

Heretic

Syntax:
STARCHANT HERETIC <target>
Power: 3 (Pool of Stars)

Brand someone a heretic so that they may see the error of their ways. You will notice that once or twice a white light will glow while the brand is upon the heretic. This indicates an opening in their auras.

Additional Notes:
Afflicts randomly, and also a prerequisite for Infidel.

HolyLight

Much like the Celestine Saints of old, so blessed by the Supernals and devout in your ways are you that your soul may be imbibed with the smallest portion of the Light of Celestia. Though not as powerful nor as capable as the ancestral saints, a mortal soul may contain much of the Holy Light of Celestia, measured in globes. Though your soul is unable to take the pure and unadulterated glories of Glorious Celestia, it may contain up to thirty spheres without suffering. These spheres may be accrued in a variety of ways, often from performing acts valued by the Holy Supernals. Elohora and Raziela look well upon acts of great sacrifice and restoring life to the dead, while Japhiel favours those who seek to ensure the undead and their unnatural existence are purged from the lands. Shakiniel, ever protective of the Light, oft blesses those who put down those who would do the Light harm. Methrenton, ever ready to charge those who would do harm to the Light and its protectorates, favours those who slay the infidels, so marked by the devout of the Light.

The Holy Light of Celestia may take many forms, oft with the intent of protecting and healing the Sacraments User.

Syntax:
STARCHANT HOLYBEING
Holy Light: 15

Using much of the Holy Light stored within, the Devout may infuse their very soul with the Light of Celestia, temporarily becoming something more than simply mortal. Those Holy Beings of Celestia that are so formed are less than Saints and Archons, however still formidable beacons of light and love upon the battlefield. Though such a transformation is not permanent, while it is maintained the Holy Being will emanate an aura that will not only purge their own pure form of afflictions, but those of their allies, as well.

HallowedGround

Syntax:
STARCHANT HALLOWEDGROUND
Power: 3 (Pool of Stars)

By blessing the ground where you stand, you will suffuse the location with holy light. You and your allies will be cured and healed periodically by the holy light as you stand on the hallowed ground (though the more of your allies on the holy ground, the less chance the light will bathe everyone). Further, those who are branded as a heretic or infidel will be harmed by the light. When a Sacraments caster dies, all of his or her hallowed grounds will vanish.

Syntax:
STARCHANT HALLOWEDPRESENCE
Holy Light: 10

It is said the Saints of Old were able to purify all that came before them, no matter how foul or dark its corruption. Expending much of their Holy Light, one of true devotion to the Light is able to call upon the Glory of Celestia, exuding a presence so hallowed and sacrosanct that not only the ground that they stand upon will be purified, but so shall their surroundings.

Judgement

Syntax:
STARCHANT JUDGEMENT <target>
Power: 5 (Any)

Call upon the wisdom of Japhiel to pass judgement upon evildoers.

Additional Notes:
Delayed instakill.

Honour

Syntax:
STARCHANT HONOUR
Power: 5 (Pool of Stars)

This aura of honour regenerates the health, mana, and ego of students of sacraments within the room.

Numen

Syntax:
STARCHANT NUMEN [WITH HOLY LIGHT]
Power: 4 (Pool of Stars)

Light: 5

By surrounding yourself with a numen of light, any damage dealt to you will be halved.

Known for his steadfast devotion to the protection of the innocent, the Dawn's Promise, believed to have been ascended to Sainthood during a glorious battle long ago, is said to have been able to withstand the most terrible of blows without so much as wincing. By imbuing a luminous spirit with one's own Holy Light, a true devout of the Light will be able to maintain the aura of numen longer than those who do not, allowing them to stand upon the field of battle as he did long ago, shielding their own weak flesh from the wounds of their enemies.

Additional Notes:
Lasts for twenty seconds.

HolyHealing

Syntax:
STARCHANT HOLY HEALING [FOR <target>]
Holy Light: 3

Known for his steadfast devotion to the protection of the innocent, the Dawn's Promise, believed to have been ascended to Sainthood during a glorious battle long ago, is said to have been able to withstand the most terrible of blows without so much as wincing. By imbuing a luminous spirit with one's own Holy Light, a true devout of the Light will be able to maintain the aura of numen longer than those who do not, allowing them to stand upon the field of battle as he did long ago, shielding their own weak flesh from the wounds of their enemies.

Infidel

Syntax:
STARCHANT INFIDEL <target>
Power: 3 (Pool of Stars)

Damage Type: 100% Magic
Damage Source: None

Brand a heretic an infidel, causing them to be scourged by holy fire. Only unredeemed heretics can bear such a mark and only when their auras are opened, which can be seen when they glow with a white light. This opening of the aura lasts only a short time so you must brand the heretic as soon as you see the white glow. Likewise, the power of the infidel brand will prolong the aura of the heretic, further opening up the aura. See AB SACRAMENTS HERETIC.

Additional Notes:
Does damage, prerequisite for Inquisition.

Resurrect

Syntax:
STARCHANT RESURRECT <body>
Power: 10 or 1 (Pool of Stars)

If the body of a fallen comrade rests on the ground before you, you may resurrect him or her. Bringing back another student of sacraments costs 1 power, while all others will cost 10.

Sacrifice

Syntax:
STARCHANT SACRIFICE <target>
Power: 10 or 1 (Pool of Stars)

If there is no body of your fallen comrade, you may still bring him or her back from the dead, but this will take the ultimate sacrifice... of your life. Bringing back another student of sacraments costs 1 power, while all others will cost 10.

Inquisition

Syntax:
STARCHANT INQUISITION <target>
Power: 6 (Pool of Stars)

Damage Type: 100% Magic
Damage Source: None

Perform an inquisition upon an infidel who refuses to be redeemed. The Holy Light of Celestia will only allow inquisitions to be placed upon those marked as an infidel and only when the aura is opened, which can be seen when they glow with a white light. This opening of the aura lasts only a short time so you must brand the infidel as soon as you see the white glow. See AB SACRAMENTS HERETIC and AB SACRAMENTS INFIDEL.

Additional Notes:
Strips all defenses other than vitae, and increases the affliction and damage rates of Heretic and Infidel.

RighteousArms

Syntax:
To cast: STARCHANT RIGHTEOUSARMS BLESS <symbol/weapon>

To lift: STARCHANT RIGHTEOUSARMS RELEASE

Holy Light: 5

Regularly leading the charge of battle, the Flame's Blade was known for her righteous charges into the fray and thick of combat, armed with her faith. It is said that she would spend each night offering prayers to each Supernal in turn, beseeching their manifold blessings upon her own armaments. When Shakiniel answered, they allowed both the Celestine's symbols and the Paladin's weapons to be so blessed, while Raziela lent a special gift of her own - as blows were struck upon those who the Light was forced to rise up against, the champions of the Light would find her love and warmth washing out from their own blades, washing away the first impurity or affliction the blessing might find. Methrenton, eager to see the unnatural purged from the land, empowered his sister's blessing with his own strength, fortifying it so that, should those the devout must fight against be undead, the effects of the blessing are doubled. Blessing those who stand against those who would harm the Light, Elohora's gift was so that the righteous would be filled with the Light of Celestia, so that one might gain Holy Light while attacking.

Trueheal

Syntax:
STARCHANT TRUEHEAL [FOR <target>]
Power: 10 (Pool of Stars)

Light: 10 (when targeted)

This is the ritual of the ultimate restoration of the body and soul. You will be completely healed and cured of all wounds. Also, you will be surrounded by a powerful aura that will protect you against most attacks.

Always known as noble priests of great healing talents, the Celestines have a long history of self-sacrifice, healing and devotion to their fellows, as well as the innocent. Able to sacrifice a great portion of their own Holy Light, those blessed by the Supernals are able to bestow this ultimate ritual upon their fellows. Though the cost is heavy and the caster is bereft of power and often much of their Light, the Supernals smile upon those who would risk their own lives for their companions.

Additional Notes:
Can be used off balance and equilibrium.
