The mortal realm is bound by the [[Nine Veils]], which hide the esoteric realms of the [[Nine Domoth]]. Beyond the Domoth lies the [[Immanidivinus]] from which the Gods themselves draw power. It was from these Domoth that mortals were able to reach divinity and become true gods. With the creation of the [[Threshold Abyss]], it is now impossible for mortals to reach the Immanidivinus and obtain the mantle of godhood. However, they are still able to enter the Domoth and become what is known as an Ascendant. A Vernal Ascendant is one who was raised to Ascendance through a Nexus of Power. This is in contrast to True Ascendants, who drew their power from the Nine Seals.

Maintaining a Vernal Ascendant drains power from the nexus they are connected to. Should the nexus's keepers choose to descend their champion, the individual becomes a Vernal Demigod forevermore.
