Anyone may learn the Jewellery trade skill. If you are a resident of a city or commune, you will automatically be a member of the jewellery cartel in that location and able to use the unique patterns of that cartel. Jewellers craft items that may be enchanted, which makes them extremely sought after by enchanters. Further, they eventually learn to cut gems and may uncover powerstones, much desired by both enchanters and alchemists alike. Ultimately, the jeweller may be able to create a tierstone, a fabled seeing stone in whose perfect facets the forms of others may be discerned.

JEWELRY AETHERBUTTONS

Aetherbuttons are one time use only. When you rub a button, you will teleport to an aetherbubble so long as you are on the prime plane. The button will then turn grey and can be used to return to the prime plane from its linked aetherbubble, after which it will be destroyed. The locations and costs vary and are listed under JEWELRY AETHERBUTTONS. Aetherbuttons are riftable.

Breaking aetherbuttons cost 1 salt per button and will return values worth 1/4 aethergoop and 1/10 gold of the cost of creating them. Grey (used) aetherbuttons cannot be broken and will decay.

Trinkets

Syntax
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweller's workshop to craft basic trinkets.
Also see JEWELLERY TRINKETS.

Additional Notes:
Designs are for needles.

Baubles

Syntax
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweller's workshop to craft simple baubles.
Also see JEWELLERY BAUBLES.

Additional Notes:
Designs are for hairpin, pin, and prayerbeads.

Chains

Syntax
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweller's workshop to craft simple chains.
Also see JEWELLERY CHAINS.

Additional Notes:
Designs are for anklets and chains.

Studs

Syntax
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweller's workshop to craft studs and other pieces of jewellery suitable for piercings.
Also see JEWELLERY STUDS.

Gemcutting

Syntax
GEMCUT [GROUP]

In a jeweller's workshop, you may cut raw gem commodities in order to create gems suitable to mount on jewellery. You will be unable to tell which type of gem is hidden in these geodes until you actually make the cut. When splitting a geode, you may get a 'dud' and find yourself with only a handful of salt or sulfur (fortunately there is an alchemical market for salt and sulfur).

You may gemcut 10 gems at once by appending GROUP, but it will take more balance to do so.

Rings

Syntax
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweller's workshop to craft beautiful rings.
Also see JEWELLERY RINGS.

Piercing

Syntax
PIERCE <person> <body part>

Note that piercings are irreversible, though if you are not wearing any jewellery in a piercing there will be no way to tell that that body part is pierced, beyond use of the PIERCINGS command (see HELP PIERCINGS). Body parts that may be pierced are:

a) left/right eyebrow
b) left/right nostril
c) septum (the part of the nose between your nostrils)
d) upper/lower lip
e) tongue
f) labret (between bottom lip and chin)
g) left/right ear (up to five piercings allowed in each ear)
h) left/right nipple
i) navel

Piercing someone requires a piercing needle. See JEWELLERY TRINKETS for the needles you can craft.

Bracelets

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft simple bracelets.
Also see JEWELRY BRACELETS.

Repair

Syntax:
REPAIR <jewelry>

If a piece of jewelry isn't properly cared for, it will eventually decay, so it is important to maintain it.

Powerstone

While cutting gemstones, you now have a chance to discern if the geode could be cut into a powerstone, which you will automatically do. Powerstones are extremely valuable items to enchanters and alchemists, who can wield one and draw power from it rather than themselves.

Necklaces

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft gem-encrusted necklaces.
Also see JEWELRY NECKLACES.

Engraving

Syntax:
ENGRAVE <piece of jewelry> <text>

You can engrave text upon jewelery at a cost of 10 gold sovereigns per letter.

EnergyCubes

Syntax:
CRAFT ENERGYCUBE

You may craft energy cubes for enchanters. Energy cubes can hold raw energy useful in recharging magical items. The commodities required to create an energy cube are: gold 10 platinum 10 silver 10 iron 10

Weddingbands

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft eternal wedding bands. Perhaps because of the ties of love that weddings rings represent, they will never decay or need to be repaired.

TRADEMASTERS: Wedding Bands are made from regular Rings patterns. Use the DESIGN COMMENT fiend to request Wedding Band typing. Due to the extended nature of these rings, engagement rings are not eligible for this typing.

Also see JEWELRY WEDDINGBANDS.

Mastercut

Your gemcutting skill has progressed to the point that at least half the time you will cut two or more gemstones from a single cluster of gems. Note, however, that a gem cluster may never contain more than one powerstone.

Miniatures

Syntax:
CRAFT FIGURINE

You may craft blank figurines for artists. The commodities required to create a figurine are: gold 5 silver 5 platinum 5 marble 5 powerstone 1

Melt

Syntax:
MELT <jewelry>

You can melt jewelry down to their component parts.

Heirloom

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft heirlooms, suitable to be passed on from generation to generation.
Also see JEWELRY HEIRLOOM.

Wands

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft wands. Note that wands cannot be worn, though they may be wielded.
Also see JEWELRY WANDS.

Constructs

Syntax:
CRAFT GEARS
Cost: platinum 100

Gears can be used in a construct or colossus to increase efficiency and decrease the recovery time for a short duration.

Crowns

Syntax:
CRAFT <design number>

You must be in a jeweler's workshop to craft crowns (or tiaras).
Also see JEWELRY CROWNS.

Tierstone

Syntax:
GEMCUT PERFECT
Power: 3 (Any)

It is the greatest quest of a jeweler to cut the perfect gemstone. You must concentrate on perfection for a chance to cut such a gemstone and may have to go through many cuts before you achieve your desire. Once you do cut the perfect gemstone, it becomes a tierstone, one of the fabled seeing stones with unique powers as set forth below.

Syntax:
TIERSTONE GAZE <person>

TIERSTONE PLANEGAZE
TIERSTONE FOCUS

By gazing into a tierstone and focusing on a person, you can scry where he or she is located. If you happen to be in the same area, you will see the room that person is in. You may also focus your tierstone on a plane. This can only be done once! To focus a tierstone, stand in a known plane (ethereal, elemental, cosmic or astral) that is not the prime material plane, and TIERSTONE FOCUS. Afterwards you can PLANEGAZE into the tierstone anywhere and anytime to see who is on that plane. (NOTE: It does not pierce the Gem of Cloaking artifact.)
