A Wild Speculation Appears
This article contains suspect reasoning, has dubious merit, and is based on very few extant facts.

Facts

  • "the Yawning Eredir" is the name of a scene ikon in the Vernal group.
  • Labeled on the map of the Horizon Walkers.

Black cursive writing notes famous and well-known locations: Grimkeep, Old Celest, Climanti, Gaudiguch, the Yawning Eredir, but most of this impressive display remains unannotated and unillustrated.

  • During Hauntings, a specially themed Vengeance game is played that mentions the Il'eredir tribe that existed during the Vernal Wars and practiced hearthcraft.

The game played at the Haunted House is set in the times of the Vernal Wars and tells the tale of the Il'eredir tribe of practitioners of hearthcraft who have been infiltrated by a group of conjurers.

"They have developed methods to anchor power to landmarks in the land, which have proved to be some of the most powerful magicks we have ever seen. [...] we call these anchors hearthstones, though they can look like almost anything. As for Il'vania and Il'garala, we call them the Sisters of the Hearth,"

- "Diary of Aurelia Serrano" by High Elder Aurelia Serrano

Conjectures

  • Yawning Eredir is another location in the Wasteland beyond the Basin that the Horizon Walkers have scouted and may make trips to in the future.
  • Its connection to the Vernal Wars suggests it may, like Grimkeep, have been home to an Edifice of Power.
  • The naming prefix "Il'" seen with the Sisters of the Hearth and the Il'eredir tribe suggests a connection, as does the fact the tribe had "practitioners of hearthcraft" and the Sisters' use of hearthstones.
    • Thus Yawning Eredir may have been the goddesses original home or a place they helped build.
