Discernment

Discernment is a selection of abilities related to your perception of the world around you. As you increase in this ability, you will be able to gather information about your state of health and those of others, take quick inventories of items you hold, and eventually even to sense power and illusions. Finally, the higher the discernment level, the greater the chance you can detect dramatic impersonations.

You will gain the ability to see in normal darkness.

Additional Notes:

Only really noticeable when you squint or glance.

Wounds

Syntax

WOUNDS [SIMPLE], WS

You can determine exactly what level of wounding you have been dealt to all your body parts. Note: your wounds start at 0 and go higher the worse they are.

WOUNDS SIMPLE (or WS) will show the same information as above, except in a tabular format.

Search

Syntax

SEARCH

Force those in your location to reveal themselves if hidden.

Sixthsense

Syntax

SIXTHSENSE

Provides the sixthsense defense, allowing you to see even through blindness. If you are already blind, cures this.

Uses the Purity Dust balance.

Itemlist

Syntax

ITEMLIST ITEMLIST <type>

You can assess pertinent details about your possessions such as descriptions, months until decay, quantities, authors, and titles.

Recognition

This ability works automatically. It will allow you to perceive the name of the person who is shouting.

Diagnose

This ability will give you a list of the afflictions, if any, that are affecting you currently.

Keylist

Syntax

KEYLIST

This ability will allow you to see a list of the keys in your inventory and what doors, if any, they open. If you see a key that opens "an impossible place" your key has likely become useless as concerns that lock.

Bodyscan

Syntax

BODYSCAN BUFFS [UNIVERSAL|<damage type>|FULL] BODYSCAN RESISTANCES [UNIVERSAL|<damage type>|FULL] BODYSCAN VITALS [HEALTH|MANA|EGO|FULL] BODYSCAN REGENERATION [HEALTH|MANA|EGO|FULL] BODYSCAN AGILITY [BALANCE|EQUILIBRIUM|FULL] BODYSCAN INFLUENCE [UNIVERSAL|<influence type>|FULL] BODYSCAN CELERITY [FULL]

Scan your body for any alterations that affect the damage you receive from, and deal to, other people and creatures - for bonuses to your health, mana and ego - or for bonuses to the regeneration of your vitals.

Note that for influence it only shows buffs to the ego damage you dish out with each successful attack. It does not show buffs related to prestige and resistance. See HELP INFLUENCE for info on prestige and resistances.

Deathsight

Syntax

DEATHSIGHT [ON|OFF]

Using this ability, you will attune yourself to the deaths of others.

Assessing

Syntax

ASSESS <player>

You've now gained the ability to see various information about the physical well being of another player by evaluating the seriousness of his wounds.

Pipelist

Syntax

PIPELIST or PIPEL

You can list all the pipes in your inventory, including what herb they are filled with, how many puffs are left and whether they are lit.

FabricAppraisal

Syntax

PROBE <item>

You can now discern the warmth factor of an item of clothing.

Thirdeye

Syntax

THIRDEYE

This powerful ability will allow you to see everybody on the continent's location with the WHO command. It will also reveal shrouded persons in the room with you.

Potionlist

Syntax

POTIONLIST/PL [BOTTLES|VIALS] [SUMMARY] PLV [SUMMARY] PLB [SUMMARY]

This will give you information on the various potions, purgatives, and salves that you may be holding. If you specify BOTTLES or VIALS (or use PLB or PLV), only items in bottles or vials will be included. The SUMMARY option shows total sips per type of fluid rather than individual containers.

Audit

Syntax

AUDIT [months [container]]

Shows a list of items in your inventory which will decay within the specified number of months (which defaults to 25), with those soonest to decay listed first. You may also audit items in containers.

Hexes

HEXES

Even if you don't know how to draw them, you can see what hexes are in your location.

Illusions

Syntax

REALITYCHECK

Doing a realitycheck will uncover any illusory terrain in a location and automatically destroy it.

Magiclist

Syntax

MAGICLIST or ML

You may quickly take stock of all your magic items and tell if they are worn (if jewelery) or wielded (if wands), what enchantments are on them, how many charges are left on each and how many months are left until they decay.

Scan

Syntax

SCAN

So long as they are outdoors, you can scan for passersby throughout your local area.

Powersense

Syntax

POWERSENSE <target>

You can determine the state of someone else's current power level and energy reserves.

Lipread

Syntax

LIPREAD

This will allow you to hear speech as normal when deaf.

Additional Notes:

This only affects people speaking to you from within the room; you still don't hear aethers or tells, for instance.

Tattoos

Syntax

TATTOOS SHOW <person>

You can get detailed information on the visible tattoos of any person, including knowing the power and weight of the tattoo.

Contemplation

Syntax

CONTEMPLATE <player>

With this ability, you may see how much mana a player has.

Analytics

Your analytical nature and discerning eye grant you a 1/4 bonus to mana.

Powermask

Syntax

POWERMASK

Power: 10 (Any)

You can mask your actions so that powerlogs will not be able to register when you drain a nexus through power quests (for example, killing demons in Nil will not register your name in the Magnagora powerlog). Note that this will not mask linking to the nexus you are affiliated with to fill your energy reserves.

The powermask will also give you a chance to block any attempts to forcibly drain your power reserves so long as it is active.

Appraise

Syntax

APPRAISE <player>

You may use this ability to gain information on an opponent's weapons.

Additional Notes:

It actually shows you someone's entire inventory.

Discerning

Syntax

DISCERN <target>

Your highly developed discerning skills can now detect the level of a person's health, mana, ego, and power in a single glance.

Aethersight

Syntax

AETHERSIGHT [(ON)|OFF] AETHERSIGHT BLOCK <person> AETHERSIGHT UNBLOCK <person> AETHERSIGHT IGNORING

Power: 3 (Any)

The strongest of the discernment skills, this extraordinary feat will tell you who is attempting to view your location, summon you, teleport to you or tesseract to you. It will also tell you who is summoning, teleporting or tesseracting to another in the same location as you. Note: It will not cost any power to turn off this feat.

If you wish to ignore repeated scries from a particular person, use AETHERSIGHT BLOCK.
