Splintering

Splintering is the metaphysical process by which an Elder God splits themselves to become a mortal race. Each resulting mortal contains a small shard of their progenitor. The first God to splinter was Bollikin, though Ein is credited with discovering the theoretical basis well before.

The first generation after a splintering carry the identity and memories of the Elder God, but these fade with time and successive generations. Mugowumpois made a point to record these memories, a practice that would eventually enable the Keepers of Mysteries to compile a History of the Elder Wars.

• Centaubi became centaurs
• Tae became tae'dae
• Bollikin became furrikin
• Orlachmar became orclachs
• Xyl became lucidians
• Agnomenon became gnomes
• Mugowumpois became mugwumps.
• Trillillial became trills
• Fininkora became finks
• Rhesileni became the sileni
• Keph became the kephera
• Clangorum became the clangoru
• Dracnoris became the dracnari AND dragons
• Tauro became taurians
• Loboshi became the loboshigaru
• Krokano became the krokani
• Aslarn became the aslaran
• Igaso became the igasho
• Eyos splintered but the race was never found.

• Half of Illith became the illithoid, the only instance thus far of a Soulless splintering.
