Anyone may learn the Artisan trade skill. This craft generally involves the construction of furniture, though it does allow the creation of some smaller items that may be carried, such as pipes. Furniture usually involves a significant amount of commodities to craft, thus making this trade skill extremely expensive. However, furniture is much in demand by those with manses as well as guilds, cities and communes. At some point during the career of an artisan, the master artisan will so value one piece of furniture that he or she created that a special bond will be formed between them.

InteriorDesign

Syntax
INTERIORDESIGN

Your keen eye for detail can quickly determine how much furniture can be placed within a room. Note that each artisan design will show how much space it will use up, as well as where in the room it will be placed.

Additional Notes:
A pantograph allows totals up to 150%, but have it out before you check the interior design, or you'll see things at a maximum of 100% even if they're over that.

Stools

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

A basic piece of furniture, stools are a simple place to sit upon.
Also see ARTISAN STOOLS.

Boxes

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Whether it be a simple gift box or elegant jewelry box, you can construct containers of fine quality and workmanship.
Also see ARTISAN BOXES.

Additional Notes:
Boxes hold a maximum of four items. Kegs are also included within boxes.

Chairs

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Chairs are comfortable, convenient, practical and traditional additions to almost any room.
Also see ARTISAN CHAIRS.

Additional Notes:

Smalltables

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Small tables add a touch of class and utility to any room.
Also see ARTISAN SMALLTABLES.

Wallfeatures

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Wall features include simple decorations for walls, such as sconces, etc.
Also see ARTISAN WALLFEATURES.

Rugs and carpets are simple floor coverings, adding warmth and comfort to a room.
Also see ARTISAN RUGS.

Pipes

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

You can craft pipes that not only are functional but have more ornamental value than the average smoking pipe. Pipes constructed by an artisan last significantly longer than average pipes.
Also see ARTISAN PIPES.

Drapes

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Drapes add a bit of elegance and class to any room. Further, if they are pulled closed during the day, the room will be cloaked in darkness as though it is nighttime.
Also see ARTISAN DRAPES.

Additional Notes:
Closed drapes allow people to bind to the totems of Moon or Night even during the day.

Jewelryboxes

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

You can construct jewelryboxes to hold necklaces, rings, ear rings, bracelets, etc. Jewelryboxes will slow the decay rate of jewelry items.
Also see ARTISAN JEWELRYBOXES.

Also see ARTISAN CHESTS.

Tapestries

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design> <direction>

Tapestries are gorgeous works of weaving, often depicting scenes of historical events. You must specify a direction to hang your tapestry. If there happens to be an exit in that direction, the tapestry will also conceal that exit. Tapestries may only be hung in compass directions (i.e., not up, down, in or out, etc.).
Also see ARTISAN TAPESTRIES.

Syntax
LOCKWORK LOCK <container|furniture> FOR <person>

LOCKWORK KEY FOR <person>

If you are lucky enough to have a chef serve you a hero fete while you are sitting at one of these sumptuous table, the chef will only need serve you half of what he normally would. (Note: The perfect banquet hall would have a large table and at least 5 chairs so that a chef could get the maximum benefit of a hero fete. Everyone, including the chef, must be sitting down on chairs though!)
Also see ARTISAN LARGETABLES.

Additional Notes:
They also boost Brewmeister tea ceremonies in the same way.

You must be holding the commodities in your hands, and will create a miniature of a beacon which can then be utilized by the warring nations.

Maintain

Syntax
INSPECT <furniture>

MAINTAIN <furniture>

Cost: It varies by design.

With your masterful eye for artisanry, you can repair damage to any furniture you know how to create, extending its life. If the furniture was not created by your hands, this will be a much more difficult process, requiring more commodities than it otherwise would. The commodity cost is related to the manufacturing outlay of the furniture you are repairing and can be discovered by first inspecting the piece.

Rockers

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Rockers are specialty chairs designed to, as the name implies, rock smoothly back and forth. So soothing is rocking in these well-designed chairs that it helps place a person in a more receptive meditative state, allowing faster regeneration of willpower.

Also see ARTISAN DESKS.

Pedestals

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Nothing serves better for highlighting an object as the focal point of the room as an elegant pedestal. If a figurine is placed upon a pedestal, it will allow anyone to freely imbue their own figurine from the pedestal's. TowelingStation

Syntax
CONSTRUCT TOWELINGSTATION

ATTACH STATION TO <ring>

Cost: marble 3 cloth 1

A miniature toweling station will give figurines a chance to rest and recuperate when they lose a battle. A small pot of cement paste will also let them repair their wounds, regaining some of their decay time lost during the bout. The toweling station will not last forever - once the cement runs out and the towels are ruined, you will need to attach a new station for figurines to benefit.

Beds

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Beds can be luxurious pieces of furniture, whether canopied or simply designed for comfort. You will certainly rest better (and faster) while in a bed as opposed to the hard ground.

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

Also see ARTISAN BOOKSHELVES.

Chandeliers

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design>

One of the most elegant additions to rooms are spectacular chandeliers. While wildly expensive, there is almost nothing else that can bring such class to a room. The sparkling light from chandeliers will even briefly reveal dreamwalkers.
Also see ARTISAN CHANDELIERS.

Constructs

Syntax
CONSTRUCT COLOSSUS

Thrones

Syntax
CONSTRUCT <design> FOR <person>

Thrones must be built for specific individuals. Because of the cost and grandiosity of thrones, they are generally reserved for royalty or those in high positions of power. Sitting in a throne that was built especially for you will temporarily raise your charisma.
Also see ARTISAN THRONES.

Prized

Syntax
PRIZE <furniture>

PRIZE RETURN

Power: variable* (any) (to return)

Sometimes you build a piece of furniture that is so beautiful and special to your heart that you always wish to return to it. By claiming a piece of furniture as your prized possession, you will be able to return to it. This ability has a powerful range that extends up through the known planes (but not across aetherspace). There are some limitations to this power. It costs 10,000 gold to place your golden seal upon a piece of furniture to claim it as your prized possession and you may only ever have one prized piece. Note that prized furniture does not decay.

The power cost varies depending on what plane you are returning from:

  • Prime = 1 power
  • Ethereal = 3 power
  • Elemental = 3 power
  • Cosmic = 4 power
  • Astral = 5 power

(Any plane not listed above that you can return from is also 5 power.)
