Shanth of the Quiet Mind was a deeply contemplative and introspective Vernal God, raised from the Edifice of Power known as the Claws of Liberty. Like the aslaran, he was an agile being, often called the Starleaper because of the legendary claim that he could move so quickly as to leap over the stars.

During the Vernal Wars, Crazen the Greedy enslaved many of the aslaran, and so he and Shanth were constant adversaries. One day, it was discovered that Crazen had disappeared, and upon further investigation, the other Vernal Gods discovered that Shanth had singlehandedly trapped Crazen in a crater at the furthest end of the world - making Shanth the only Vernal God capable of defeating one of the Soulless on their own.

To imprison Kethuru and end the Vernal Wars, Shanth merged with the rest of the Council of Nine to form Avechna the Avenger and he, himself, became the Seal of Harmony.
