Tar Pits

What is now known as the Tar Pit Wastes was once the Eastern Serenwilde. The forest expanded much further than its current boundaries; however, when an ancient, insidious creature called the Slaghora'ruin, or the Slayer of Forests in the fae language, slithered in from beyond the Basin of Life, the forest quickly decayed under the beast's poisonous touch. In defense of the Serenwilde, several druid families went to fight the beast, but they were unable to do so - and in the end, Chuchip, the Great Spirit of Serenwilde, had to sever the land with his magic. When the Slaghora'ruin grew strong enough to pierce through Chuchip's veil, the Wastes were revealed, and it was found that the descendants of the druid families still waged a most difficult war.

Inhabitants

  • a crazed buck
  • a rabid fox
  • a monstrous man-eater plant
  • a frenzied badger
  • an enchanting dryad

Slemgooum Fyrgenwig

Though her dark skin is stretched tight against a cadaverous skull, Slegooum Fyrgenwig's large eyes are bright and full of mischief. The ancient mugwump is swathed in a deep black robe and bent nearly in half, making it impossible to ascertain just how large she actually is. In one shriveled hand, Slegooum tightly grips a gnarled branch upon which she leans heavily. Foul smelling fumes waft out of pouches hanging from her belt, and an old brass torc set with a clouded emerald hangs from her neck.

Tinjtak Gladheart

Looking like a tae'dae in miniature, Tinjtak Gladheart is coated in golden-brown and clad in a simple tunic and trousers. An affable grin is plastered across the furrikin's snout and bright brown eyes gaze warmly at the surroundings. A cudgel is clasped lightly in one chubby paw and currently finds service as a walking stick, while the other hangs onto a pouch slung over Tinjtak's back.

Cyarun Thornleaf

Possessing green-tinted skin, this short elfen man is draped in ragged, brown robes. Every bit of unclothed skin is smudged with dirt and tar, caking him in layers of grime. A wild tangle of sorrel hair falls from his scalp, the unruly wisps coming together as a shaggy mane, out of which a pair of long, pointed ears peek out. His slender face is a series of angular features, high cheekbones and a hawkish nose, above which rests two vibrant chartreuse eyes. Around his neck is a beaten silver torc, and in his right hand, he tightly grips the shaft of a gnarled, mystic cudgel.

In support of Slaghora'ruin, he urges others to put animal corpses inside nearby tar pits in service of his master.

Mebor Greenhunt

Kneeling with the posture of a statue, Mebor Greenhunt's true height is difficult to determine. Clad in a neatly trimmed doeskin tunic and oiled leather breeches, his coppery skin seems to blend into the clothing, appearing as if he were wearing a full piece suit. Tousled locks of auburn hair fall down to frame a slender face, cut through by a pair of pointed ears. His facial features are far too striking to be considered handsome, and his slate grey eyes gaze out with a soulful yearning. He clutches a golden sickle and a simple red leather sling in one hand and presses the other firmly in the soft soil.

Mebor seeks to offer a proper burial to the corrupted animals of the area.

Jayant Thornleaf

As willowy as a tree sapling, Jayant Thornleaf is a rail-thin elfen man with a countenance which boasts a severity tempered by leadership. Silvery-green skin covers his sharp musculature, partly covered by golden robes which drape over his body luxuriantly. Long, dark strands of hair have been pulled back in a tight ponytail, revealing the harsh features and keen angles of his face. Brilliant chartreuse eyes study the environment with a determination hidden in their depths, and his rosy lips have been pursed in a wistful expression. A many-pronged rack of antlers erupts from his skull, each tip sharpened and deadly. Motes of emerald light flow gently to the ground from a mystic cudgel which he grips tightly in his right hand.

Jayant has discovered a way to use druidic magic to prevent Slaghora'ruin's further growth, but needs assistance from other druids in the area, each with their own issues distracting them from the task at hand.

Esen Rainsong

Tightly wrapped in a bundle of thick wool blankets, Esen Rainsong drifts in and out of consciousness. Her pale skin has taken on a sickly pallor, a virulent yellow which covers her body in disturbing splotches. Silky brown-red feathers fall from her head in a soft downy cap, yielding to smaller feathers resting at the nape of her neck. Arching past her shoulders, a pair of mahogany wings have been folded to fit in the fibrous quilts, allowing her to rest comfortably. Her glassy aeneous eyes struggle to remain awake, spidery wrinkles having formed around the sockets and lashes. Despite being ill, she has managed to wrest her left arm from the cloth bindings, occasionally spasming as the limb anxiously reaches for a golden sickle, leather sling, and an assortment of runes nearby.

Risio Honnen

Discounting his large, slender ears, Risio Honnen stands only a few feet tall, but proudly displays all the vigour of his rabbit furrikin lineage. A soft brown coat of bristly fur covers his plump body which pales to an off-white around his tiny stomach. Bright blue eyes peer curiously at his surroundings, and a small pink nose snuffles the air intermittently amidst a forest of whiskers. A fluffy ball of fur protrudes from Risio's bottom, further denoting his heritage. Bound by a simple leather belt, he is clothed in a thick smock-like robe which is deeply stained a myriad of colours. A golden sickle and a leather sling hang from his belt, waiting to be used.

Risio is trying to assemble a potion that might cure Esen's sickness.

Temmal Bramble

A lumbering beast if there ever was one, the tae'dae named Temmal Bramble towers over most with the height of many hands. Dark brown, shaggy fur covers most of his rotund physique, which lightens drastically to a golden caramel around his muzzle and paws. Deep brown eyes stare out vacantly and his brow is stuck in a permanent crease. Recently oiled, a slick suit of leather armour covers his massive frame loosely, obscured partly by a thick woolen red cloak. He wields a golden sickle and a leather sling in his paws.

To complete a ritual, Temmal and the other druids in the area need a totem that has been damaged.

Emaleth Strongoak

A raven-haired elfen beauty, Emaleth Strongoak is a true portrait of melancholy. Glossy black hair falls from her head like a collection of dark wires, the corded tresses stuck in a state of disarray. Her bright blue eyes are puffy and red from crying, and streaks of dried tears are plastered to her porcelain skin. Only the faintest traces of a smile appear on her lips, otherwise, her mouth is but a thin line morphed into a woeful grimace. Diaphanous mourning robes cling to her lithe body, held tightly by a thick leather belt from which hangs a series of druidic instruments: a golden sickle, a leather sling, and a rune bag. Her slender fingers dig deep into the soft soil, anchoring her body as she is wracked with a series of body-spasming sobs.
