Most people have some artistic ability but it takes studying the fine arts to truly become proficient. Artists first learn to craft a variety of common every day items and then go on to learn how to mix tinctures. Eventually, they are ready to create paintings and sculptures, always in demand by enchanters who can enchant them. A most useful consequence of mastering this skill is the discerning eye of a trained artist, which can see small imperfections and flaws in illusions.

You can fashion beautiful gem stone vials. Also, you can fashion ordinary glass objects from gems, like bottles.

Additional Notes:
Note that bottles use the gems commodity, not cut gems like diamond or turquoise. Vials, on the other hand, require cut gemstones.

Palette

PREPARE PALETTE
Ingredients: (tinctures) red 1 blue 1 yellow 1 green 1 purple 1 gold 1

By mixing tinctures of various types, you can create a palette of paints, which can be used for paintings or tarot cards.

Sketching

Syntax:
SKETCH <target>

PAINT FROM SKETCH <sketch>
SCULPT STATUE|FIGURINE OF SKETCH <sketch>

Draw quick sketches of your subject, to later use as an outline for paintings or statues. You'll need a blank sketch sheet and a piece of coal. Note the syntax for painting and sculpting from sketches is different.

Canvas

Syntax:
ASSEMBLE CANVAS
Ingredients: wood 1 cloth 1

You can construct a blank canvas upon which to paint your masterpieces.

Landscapes

Syntax:
PAINT HERE

PAINT FROM SKETCH <sketch>

Paint gorgeous landscapes of your favorite locations. You'll need a blank canvas and a full palette of paints.

BlueTint

Syntax:
MIX BLUE
Ingredients: pennyroyal 2

Mix up a batch of periwinkle blue tincture if you have the right ingredients.

StillLife

Syntax:
PAINT <object>

Paint still life portraits of objects or things. You'll need a blank canvas and a full palette of paints.

Exhibit

Syntax:
EXHIBIT <painting>

You can place your paintings on exhibit for all to see. You may only exhibit paintings in indoor urban locations. Paintings may also be exhibited in the aether environment in aether manses.

Additional Notes:
There is no way to move or take down paintings once exhibited without destroying them, so be sure it's in the right place.

GreenTint

Syntax:
MIX GREEN
Ingredients: myrtle 1 galingale 1 yarrow 1

Mix up some forest green tincture if you have the right ingredients.

MasterMixer

When mixing tints, you will create two applications instead of one.

Portraits

Syntax:
PAINT <target>

PAINT FROM SKETCH <sketch>

Paint life-like portraits of others. You'll need a blank canvas and a full palette of paints. You can also create a painting from two sketches of your subject.

Upkeep

Syntax:
UPKEEP <PAINTING|STATUE>
Ingredients:
  • Painting: full palette of paint
  • Statue: marble 1

If works of art are not properly kept and maintained, they will be destroyed on their own. Upkeeping will extend the decay time.

PurpleTint

Syntax:
MIX PURPLE
Ingredients: juniper 2 sparkleberry 1

Mix up a batch of royal purple tincture if you have the right ingredients.

Statues

Syntax:
SCULPT STATUE OF <target>

SCULPT STATUE OF SKETCH <sketch>

Ingredients: marble 5

You must be in an outdoor urban or road environment to sculpt a statue. Your model must also be in the same location as yourself, or you must have six sketches of your model. You may also sculpt statues in aether manses.

GoldTint

Syntax:
MIX GOLD
Ingredients: gold 2 faeleaf 1

Mix up a batch of sunny gold tincture if you have the right ingredients.

Miniatures

Syntax:
SCULPT FIGURINE OF <target>

SCULPT FIGURINE OF SKETCH <sketch>

Ingredients: blank figurine 1

Your model must also be in the same location as yourself, or you must have three sketches of your model.


Destroy

Syntax:
DESTROY <PAINTING|STATUE>

Some art just shouldn't exist. You can destroy paintings and statues, though this is a time consuming process. You can salvage some marble from statues, and re-use canvases from destroyed paintings.

Additional Notes:
During the very lengthy destruction process, you can do almost nothing without interrupting it, so be sure you're prepared before you start.

Critique

Syntax:
CRITIQUE HERE

CRITIQUE <target|ME>

Power: 8 (Any)

Your discerning artistic sensibilities can spot flaws in even the most carefully crafted illusions.

Additional Notes:
This can be used to dispel illusions in a room or on a person.
