Illithoid.gif

The Illithoid race descends from a sharded half of the Soulless Goddess, Illith. Many races, the Kephera in particular, consider people of the Illithoid race to be abominations due to their origins. The first illithoid that were not denizens began to appear on the surface of the Basin of Life in the year 176 CE.

Increased empowering, seduction, paranoia, charity and weakening ego attacks while influencing.

Appearance

Illithoid are very different in appearance compared to other races of the Basin. Their pale skin ranges from shades of grey and purple, and they are often described as being serpentlike. They also have a sternal mouth upon their bodies, and within this mouth is another thing unique to Illithoid: a sentient 'Inner Worm' that resides within the body of each and every illithoid and feeds upon psychic energies. Illithoids that are not hybridized with humans also appear to lack hair.

Culture

They, like their mortal enemies the Kephera, have a racial home within the Undervault. However, these two lifestyles vary drastically. Without hives and spoiled Queens, the Illithoid of the Undervault are kept within the Illithoid Prison, sealed away behind the Seal of Keph beneath the waves of the Undersea, where they plot to escape and how to rid themselves of their enemies for good.

When Illithoid first came to the surface of the Basin, they brought with them the teachings of Nekotai and Ninjakari, which they taught to the Glomdoring Commune and the City of Magnagora respectively. They also brought with them the use of stealth.

Racial Politics

The Illithoid race is currently banned from citizenship in the City of New Celest and in the Serenwilde Commune.

The guards that can be called upon by the Nekotai and Ninjakari for service in the Glomdoring Commune and City of Magnagora are of the Illithoid race.

Other Facts

  • Illithoid are able to understand every spoken language of the Basin.
  • Their health regenerates while underground.
  • While not charismatic, the Illithoid race carry great bonuses to intimidation, paranoia, and village influencing.
  • They are resilient against psychic and poison damages.
  • Illithoid can sense anyone in their area by using MINDSENSE.
  • Illithoid can use Nekai and Jakari more effectively than anyone else, as they are native weapons of the race.
  • At level 50, and Illithoid's Inner Worm can absorb psychic energies from corpses, making the Illithoid more egotistical.
  • Illithoid are susceptible to magic.

Racial Emotes

The illithoid's racial emote is ILLSHIFT.

  • The fleshy maw on (Illithoid)'s sternum loosens and begins to shudder and twitch, before tightening once more.
  • (Illithoid) faces you, his/her inner worm stretching outwards menacingly in your direction, tasting the air around you.
  • (Illithoid)'s inner worm snakes out of his/her sternum, approaching (target) menacingly. His/Her expression of anticipation begins to fade away as his/her worm sinks back in, a muffled hissing noise lingering in the air.
  • You feel a mild discomfort as your sternal mouth loosens and clenches again.
  • You turn to face the (target), your sternal mouth opening to allow your inner worm to taste its psionic emanations.

Notable Illithoid

Cthoglogg, the High Ritualist

Leader of the Illithoid within the Illithoid Prison

This serpentine illithoid is small and lithe, yet stands with an authoritative, unquestioned bearing that makes him appear to tower over those around him. His moist skin is a purple-grey colour, laced with webs of yellow and dark blue veins that pulse softly. His cranium is abnormally large and ovoid, devoid of any hair. Recessed deep into bony sockets are burning red eyes that glitter with malevolence and cunning. Deep emerald silk robes wrap around his body, heavily embroidered in silver, and a wicked golden dagger hangs from a ceremonial chain, crusted with dried blood.

Madam Yith

Guild Tutor of the Ninjakari

A midnight blue cloak engulfs Yith's figure, shifting as she moves to reveal brief glimpses of her lanky limbs and emaciated body. Despite the concealing garment, the illithoid's tense crouch and vicious, precise actions resemble those of a coiled snake about to strike. Her skin is ashen and clammy, shot through with palpitating blue veins. A deep cowl casts shadows over her sunken cheeks and obscures her features. Blood-rimmed eyes gleam out from its cover, above a circular mouth that often gapes in a rictus resembling a smile, full of spiny yellow teeth. A nimbus of psionic energy blurs the air around Yith, crackling with ill will.

Madam Yoraghu

Guild Tutor of the Nekotai

The dark, shadowy figure of Madam Yoraghu stands patiently within the shadows, glaring with a silent authority at those that dare to approach. Small, crimson coloured eyes mark a grotesquely disfigured face with a sharp intelligence just above a sneering mouth of razor sharp teeth. Her serpentine body is cloaked in soft, flowing silks of pitchiest black and long, sinuous arms end in deadly sharp claws upon the tips of each finger.

Master Otekrug

Nekotai Tutor of the Shadowmaze. (Glomdoring)

The imposing figure of Master Otekrug stands silently amongst the shadows, his dark, beady eyes observing the surrounding area with an icy nonchalance. Sleeveless, loose fitting clothing reveal muscular arms that flex beneath his taut, pale skin. Dark, purple veins pulsate along his forehead, and run along the sides of his face, passing his short nose and fanged sneer. Vicious claws grow from his hands which flex idly as he stands about.

Undermind Dhogghl

Ninjakari Tutor of the College of Necromantic & Tainted Research. (Magnagora)

Little can be seen of this illithoid from under the deep folds of his black robes. Short and ever crouching, he resembles a viper ready to strike, the air around him charged with psionic energy. Blood red eyes peer out from the depths of his hood, roaming around with a glint of malevolent curiosity. His pale bony hands are clasped together, and he wrings them out of habit as blue blood vessels pulsate just beneath his translucent skin.
