A Triumvirate always consisted of three members of the Third Circle, specially chosen for their wisdom to be arbiters for crimes amongst the Elders.

- Book of Igaso

When grave events demand Gods judge Gods, a Triumvirate convenes: three selected by the Third Circle from among their number. By the era of the Elder Wars, this had only happened five times.

The Sixth Triumvirate

Most uses of the term refer specifically to the sixth Triumvirate which investigated and sentenced the Twelve Traitors to exile in the Void. This Triumvirate consisted of Hoaracle, Mysrai, and Jadice.
