Urlach, Master of Death, was raised as a Vernal God at an Edifice of Power long since forgotten, and was one of many orclach who became Vernal Gods in that time. Urlach chose to temper His mind as well as His body, though, and so He became both a great warrior and a rival in intellect to even D'varsha. He often appeared as a dark figure shrouded in shadows, and perfected the technique of capturing the souls of the dead and partially restoring them to their bodies, creating undead warriors who felt no pain and fought beyond the point that mere mortals could ever hope to reach.

The majority of Urlach's forces were orclach, because the other Vernal Gods often protested the use of mortals in this way. The orclach, however, were proud to serve their Master, and it was in those days that the ur'Guard, Urlach's Death Guard, began.

Urlach was also responsible for creating and maintaining a vast network of multi-dimensional gates that could be used to marshal His troops and lead them across the realm quickly. The gates were even used to trap Great Muud in the final days of the Vernal Wars, and the gates in Shallach near Magnagora were defended by orclachs up until the time when the Taint was unleashed.

To imprison Kethuru and end the Vernal Wars, Urlach sacrificed Himself, giving birth to Avechna the Avenger, and became the Seal of Death.
