According to rumour, merian researchers of the ancient Celestine Empire sought to turn an artifact of the Vernal God Urlach into a vessel of the Light, a study known as Project Eternity. They built an underwater facility, the Eternity Labs, where they performed magical experiments to increase the strength of their warriors. Little is known regarding the end of the project, for underwater earthquakes had sunk the facility into the Undervault, where it remained undiscovered for centuries.

In 270 CE, however, merian archaeologists from the Nyalia Research Centre have stumbled upon the ruins of the Eternity Labs - as well as the artifact hidden within. (Events #199)
